Hilary Duff has become a triple-threat dominating the world of television, music, and movies. Now she’s moving onto books!
Hilary, now 22, has signed on to write a series of young adult novels for Simon & Schuster.
Her first novel, titled Elixir features the story of a globe-trotting journalist named Clea Raymond. The book is expected to hit shelves on Oct. 12 of this year reports Usmagazine.com.
However, Elixir is not the only book Hilary will be working on. She also plans to pen a nonfiction story about children coping with divorce which isn’t due to hit stores till 2012. In fact, Hilary’s parents split when she was young so she’s previously written about the topic in songs like “Gypsy Woman” and “Stranger.”
Looks like it’s a great time in Hilary’s life, as the news of her books comes shortly after confirming her engagement to hockey player Mike Comrie.
Movies, music, TV, literature and an engagement by 22?! Damn Hilary… you go girl!
Edmonton Oilers hockey player, Mike Comrie popped the question last weekend while the lovebirds were “vacationing in Hawaii,” Duff’s rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.
“After having been together for over two years, they are very excited to share this happy news,” the rep continues. “They are thankful for all of your warm wishes.”
The Duffster and Comrie began dating in 2007 and it appeared to be love at first sight!
Shortly after committing, Comrie proved his baller style by surprising Duff with a Mercedes-Benz G-class SUV as an early 20th birthday present. Damn! Lucky bitch.
“He’s a great guy,” Duff told Us last year. “I’ve never met anyone who could say a bad word about him. He’s generous, caring, funny. We just laugh our heads off, which I need in my life … He’s unique. I wouldn’t want to be with someone who wasn’t unique.”
Of course he’s a great guy when he’s dropping that kind of dough on you!
While the two both have extremely busy jobs and lives, Duff told Us they have a surprisingly “natural” relationship and have no problem making the long-distance relationship work at times.
Added Comrie, “We have fun. We both live such different lives, but it’s always fun to support each other and spend time when we get to.”
Hilary Duff will join the cast of Gossip Girl beginning this fall!
Although she’s not expected to stay for the entire season, the former teen queen will join the series for a multi-episode story arc, the CW has just confirmed to Usmagazine.com.
Duff will play a movie star named Olivia Burke who enrolls at NYU in search of a traditional, low-key college experience, as Vanessa’s roommate.
Look out for Duff in the fourth episode of the next season airing Oct. 5!
Hilary must be super excited about this gig! This exposure beats her daily paparazzi encounters to get coffee and go to the gym!
Hilary Duff And Wanda Sykes Don’t Like The Term, “That’s So Gay”
October 21st, 2008
Hilary Duff is speaking out about the unfair usage of the term, “That’s so gay” by doing a and appearing on CNN to talk about it. Check out the clip above to see her ad and what Hilary had say on the issue.
Comedian Wanda Sykes has also jumped on board to eliminate the derogatory term with her own PSA commercial. Check it out .
Hilary Duff has a big birthday coming up — the big 21 — but it won’t be all celebration for this Duff sister.
Hilary’s father, Bob Duff, was hauled away in handcuffs yesterday from a Houston courtroom to spend 10 days in jail for contempt of court for selling assets without court approval.
According to The Houston Chronicle Hilary’s mother, Susan, requested $25,000 from Bob for Duff’s upcoming 21st birthday — the same amount he’d spent on sister Haylie’s 21st birthday a few years ago.
Hilary and Haylie were not in court yesterday with their mother and father but Susan stated that her “adult millionaire daughter” deserved “to have some kind of recognition for a young life well-lived,” especially because Hilary “is emotionally upset by the abandonment of her father.”
The judge awarded Susan $12,500 for Hilary’s birthday on Sept. 28. That’s on top of the $367,537 he’s ordered to pay for the sale of stocks he sold last month and made into a court repository.
Tony Parker and Eva Longoria shined at the CFDA Fashion Awards last night at the New York Public Library. The awards show was quite the star studded event. Eva Mendes looked as clean and sober as her white dress. Kim Cattrall and Mandy Moore both boasted long elegant navy dresses. Victoria Beckham struck a pose with Marc Jacobs while Hilary Duff took a photo with Michael Kors.
Extra caught up with several Hollywood stars from Sally Field and Hilary Duff to The Hills stars and Rosie O’Donnell and got their take on the scandalous semi-nude photos famed photographer Annie Leibovitz took of Miley Cyrus for Vanity Fair.
Here’s what they said:
Sally Field: “I love Miley Cyrus. My granddaughters are completely and utterly over the moon. I watch Hannah Montana….I think, ‘Let it go for God’s sake’…It’s a beautiful picture.”
Hilary Duff: “It’s a lot of pressure. I don’t know how I would even begin to give her advice because I feel she has a huge career and she’ll learn how to deal with it.”
Lauren Conrad: “I found it a bit silly. I thought she looked beautiful in the pictures. I didn’t find it that inappropriate. I think it’s difficult. It s a lot of pressure on her since she is a role model, but I think she’s doing a good job.”
Heidi Montag: I think she’s a young girl in Hollywood and she’s just having fun. Exploring herself.”
Spencer Pratt [The Hills]: “I didn’t think it was that bad. Supposedly, she’s wearing a top underneath. It’s artistic.”
Tila Tequila: “I think it’s hot. When I was 15, I was doing the same thing except I bared it all….She’s just showing her back. She’s growing up. I don’t think she’s doing anything harmful. If the media keeps pushing her, pressuring her, she might end up messed up. But right now, I think everyone should just let her have fun. She’s not doing anything scandalous. I think she’s hot!”
Emmy Rossum: “I think she’s a role model for kids, but I think she looks beautiful.”
Rosie O’Donnell spoke out about the so-called scandal on her blog saying, “I had two photo shoots with her [Annie Leibovitz]. It’s intimidating. Annie Leibovitz. I also didn’t think it was a pornographic photo in any capacity. I thought it was kind of a beautiful portrait, you know. I like the one of her and her dad too. It’s Annie Leibovitz people. Leave Miley alone!”
Everyone seems to be whistling the same tune. The photos aren’t a big deal - leave Miley alone!
