Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys Superwoman Performance Pays Respect Jennifer Hudson’s Slain Family Members
November 24th, 2008
Last night’s American Music Awards were jam packed with rock star performances, but the one that stood out to us was the finale of the show.
The always glamorous Alicia Keys started the performance with her rock ballad Superwoman and mid way through the song was joined by a rapping Queen Latifah.
Take a listen and let us know what you think. We thought it was touching that the Queen made mention of Jennifer Hudson’s late mother and what a stellar job she did in raising Jennifer and her sister Julia.
John Mayer stepped out last night and attended the Keep A Child Alive’s 5th Annual Black Ball in New York City without his girlfriend Jennifer Aniston. Now that Aniston has confirmed their relationship officially on Oprah, you would think they’d start attending red carpet events together.
It’ll be interesting to see if Mayer walks the red carpet with Aniston for her Marley & Me premieres.
Othere celebrities at the ball included: Justin Timberlake, Chris Daughtry, Alicia Keys, Jessica Alba, Queen Latifah and Tyra Banks.
A rock star line-up of A-list performers in the music business showed up for the World Music Awards last night, which was hosted super randomly by Jesse Metcalfe in Monte Carlo.
Seriously, how did Jesse score this gig? Has he even done a thing since appearing on the first few episodes of Desperate Housewives?
Celebrities who presented and or performed included: Ringo Starr, Barbara Bach, Beyonce Knowles, Solange Knowles, Anastacia, Chace Crawford, Kid Rock, Estelle, Alicia Keys and Akon.

Check It Out: The Secret Life Of Bees
October 7th, 2008
The Secret Life Of Bees premiered last night in Los Angeles and judging from the trailer it looks like a winner. The film stars Dakota Fanning as a 14-year-old girl who is haunted by the death of her mother, so she runs away with her caregiver Rosaleen, played by Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson to a South Carolina town that holds the secret to her mother’s past.
The flick also stars Queen Latifah and Alicia Keys and comes out in theaters later this month.
While I’m usually a big fan of Alicia Keys, I’m not sure how I feel about her new single Another Way To Die — which is the official theme song to the new James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace.
Keys collaborated with White Stripes singer Jack White on it and you can click HERE to listen!
Alicia Keys graces the July cover of Seventeen magazine and the singer-songwriter, who has conquered everything except love, opens up about her major mistakes, lost loves and how she’s finally following her heart.
On her biggest struggle with relationships:
“I have definitely been overaccomodating. It gets to the point where I’m not taking a second to ask, How am I feeling today? We have to listen to our feelings. But a lot of times you ignore them. You’re busy, you’re in school, you’re working, trying to get into college, to make your mom happy, to be the best student you can be, to make your friends like you, to fit in. You don’t want to disappoint anyone. But at some point you have to say, Enough! I can’t be perfect.”
On what she’s learned on love and dating:
“I wouldn’t deal with a guy who didn’t know how to make me feel really loved. If you’re not totally head-over-heels adoring and loving me at every moment, I’m not even into you. I need that. I think we deserve people who really, really love us. Like whether you’re a thousand miles away or right there, you need to make the person feel special, and you have to feel special too.”
On her happiness now:
“I think at one time I was so bent on being just one way that I didn’t allow myself to explore the many ways I can be or express myself. I’ve learned to embrace the many sides of myself. And there are so many sides to who I am. I have the more delicate side. I have the rougher, tougher tomboy side. I have the bohemian, ‘70s retro side. I have the more glamorous side. I have the more feminine side. There are so many sides to who you are. So now I’m just so much more open to trying new things. And it feels good.”
John Mayer rocked the house at the grand opening of the MGM Grand at Foxwoods tonight in Ledyard, Connecticut with Alicia Keys.
Mayer and Keys seemed to have good musical chemistry together. Jennifer Aniston did film today in Pennsylvania, which explains her absence. Click here to see an exclusive Boots Girls video Mayer performing at a private event.
John Mayer attended the opening of the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut tonight without his new girlfriend Jennifer Aniston. Hmmm. We know Aniston was filming on Friday in Pennsylvania so maybe her movie schedule prevented her from being with her new beau over the weekend.
Mayer hung out at the opening with other celebs such as Jenny McCarthy, Catherin Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas, Alicia Keys and Kim Kardashian.
On a side note, is it us or is Mayer starting to look manorexic??? I guess that’s what happens when you date Aniston! Aniston has a very strict diet and Vince Vaughn also started dropping the pounds during their relationship. MAYOREXIC!
Janet Jackson will be presented with the Vanguard Award at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation’s 19th Annual Media Awards at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre on Saturday and answered to E! Online about the never-ending rumors that she’s gay.
Apparently the rumors that she’s gay or bisexual don’t bother her and when asked who her top three girl crushes would be Jackson responded, “I don’t know if I have three. I think I would pick Alicia Keys, for sure. I think she’s wonderful.”
I have a feeling her boyfriend Jermaine Dupre would approve.
