A rock star line-up of A-list performers in the music business showed up for the World Music Awards last night, which was hosted super randomly by Jesse Metcalfe in Monte Carlo.
Seriously, how did Jesse score this gig? Has he even done a thing since appearing on the first few episodes of Desperate Housewives?
Celebrities who presented and or performed included: Ringo Starr, Barbara Bach, Beyonce Knowles, Solange Knowles, Anastacia, Chace Crawford, Kid Rock, Estelle, Alicia Keys and Akon.
The scene this afternoon in downtown Chicago was more like Beatle-Mania in the 1960’s than a mundane lunch hour in the Loop!
Legendary Beatle Ringo Starr was in town celebrating his 68th birthday at The Hard Rock Hotel. The sign outside the hotel read “Peace and Love”, which apparently is all Starr wanted for his birthday — he got exactly the opposite. Things turned crazy quickly and it was more like running with the bulls rather than a peace rally.
When Ringo appeared at noon, fans, media, and hotel personnel swarmed Starr trying to catch a glimpse, with no regard to the people around them — it was a far cry from peaceful.
Ringo posed with his birthday cake and even handed out some cupcakes to the crowd before disappearing into the hotel.
Today is Ringo Starr’s birthday and the famous Beatle is scheduled to celebrate in Chicago at the Hard Rock Hotel and all he needs is love!
Starr is scheduled to be at the hotel’s entrance at South Water Street and Michigan Avenue at noon today to celebrate his birthday by hosting a peace and love moment. In a press release, Starr said he would just like peace man for his birthday gift.
“Just peace and love. It would be really cool if everyone, everywhere, wherever they are at noon on July 7 make the peace sign and say, ‘peace and love’.”
Hotel staffers plan to pass out complimentary pieces of birthday cake from Perfect Peace Café & Bakery at the open celebration. So if you’re in the Loop area during your lunch break, head on down for some cake. Yum!
