Donda West may never have gone under the knife at all if there had been more screening and higher standards for patients seeking cosmetic surgery.

Lawmakers in California are going after just that. West passed away in November due to complications following liposuction and breast augmentation surgery.

West’s death has prompted lawmakers to reevaluate the practicing standards.

According to The LA Times, a bill, AB 2968, by Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter (D-Rialto) calls for a patient to receive a physical examination before undergoing cosmetic surgery.

Yolanda Anderson, West’s niece, told The Times, “It’s not like she was 90 or terminally ill with cancer. It was something that did not have to happen.”

Here’s hoping the proposed regulations promote awareness of these increasingly common (but potentially dangerous!) surgeries.

It’s been almost five months since Kanye West’s mother Donda West passed away and the rapper is still heartbroken, but doing his best to move on.

Kanye posted this tribute to his mom Wednesday on his blog :

“I don’t do anything I don’t love anymore…I loved the flashing lights vid so it didn’t matter 2 me if someone one else didn’t. While people chase money I pursue happiness. So many people talk about there investments or how much money they have but there’s so many rich people who spend a lot of that trying 2 buy a piece of happiness.

“If there’s anything my mom taught me is to enjoy life. I just recorded my first verse in the last 6 months 2 days ago at Bape’s Studio in Japan. It felt good and I was inspired. I absolutely lost my mind (in a good way) on the new Glow in the Dark tour. The constant hours of creating helped me 2 keep from loosing my mind in a bad way. Chris Milk told me tragedy can produce great art and this is definitely true.

“I am a total mad man now, up till 3 am every night, trying 2 fight pain, board-um, and uncertainty with creativity. All that said, life is good….. good as finding the perfect fabric for a simple one button casual blazer with matching pants.”

Note to Kanye: Next time you feel the urge to pen something on your blog, I suggest you try to buy some happiness for us all by hiring a good editor!

She appropriately sang Rehab as she is currently in rehab still, we hope.

In her song one line is “I’d rather be at home with Ray…”, which is supposed to be a reference to Ray Charles, but she substituted Ray with the name of her incarcerated hubby “Blake” Fielder-Civil.

Kanye West sang a touching tribute song to his mother, Donda, who recently passed away. He did a fantastic job performing and the song is great!

Beyonce sang an electric duet with Tina Turner and Rihanna sang Umbrella with dancers who danced with umbrellas.

Kanye West’s mother, Donda West, officially passed away of coronary artery disease and various complications from plastic surgery, according to autopsy results released yesterday by the Los Angeles coroner.

Donda died shortly after a series of plastic surgeries that included a breast reduction, liposuction, and a tummy tuck, performed by Dr. Jan Adams.

Thomas says West had been wanting plastic surgery since June and she had helped West look for a good doctor saying, “I only visited one, but I know she shopped around.”

Thomas also says Kanye DID NOT want his mom to have any surgery done, and in regards to Dr. Adams, Thomas says, “I think that Kanye was aware, but again like none of us, he did not know who this man is, who he was.”
