Singer Billy Joel and his third wife Katie Lee Joel are separating after being married since 2004.

“After nearly five years of marriage, Billy and Katie have decided to separate,” a rep for the couple said in a statement. “This decision is the result of much thought and consideration. Billy and Katie remain caring friends, with admiration and respect for each other.”

Five years was just enough time for a young woman like Katie to grow sick of his old balls and build a career for herself off of Billy’s famous last name.

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced yesterday that the Cleveland-based Rock & Roll Hall of Fame museum will be opening an annex in downtown Manhattan in November.

Musician Billy Joel was on hand to help with the announcement and even said he’d be donating some memorabilia to the museum. “New York gave me my words and my music, and rock and roll gave me a place for that music to live,” Joel recalled.

The museum will be 25,000 square feet and will feature Bruce Springsteen’s 1957 Chevy as well as a number of other different exhibits.

“There really isn’t a more fitting spot for this museum than New York, the hometown of hall of famers like the Velvet Underground, Paul Simon and Blondie … This is where Ed Sullivan met the Beatles, where Lou Reed took a walk on the wild side,” Bloomberg said.

I have a feeling there’s gonna be a lot of happy New Yorkers when this museum rolls into town!

Joel also refused to take a photo with Victoria. Maybe he doesn’t want a photo with himself posing with a cross-dresser splashed around the net like what happened with John Mayer.
