Though she may be banging a hottie, Ellen DeGeneres tells Katie Couric that women shouldn’t think beauty comes from being super skinny!
“It’s a double standard because there are men with really beautiful women that don’t have great bodies, and yet nobody’s saying anything about that,” she tells Couric on CBS Evening News. “Women [think they] need to keep themselves up to look good for a man or for society. It’s not fair.”
How crazy! The Boots Girls tuned into Tyra last night and the show’s topic was about hot chicks that dig men with potbellies!
DeGeneres — who’s a spokeswoman for CoverGirl — says her biggest annoyance in Hollywood is airbrushing!
“Women are looking at bodies like that and going, ‘My stomach doesn’t look like that. I’m supposed to look like that?!’” the talk show host says. “So they starve themselves and they work out like crazy.”
She adds: “It’s not important. We put the wrong emphasis on what beauty is and what health is. Health is being vibrant and having energy and being happy. If you’re healthy, it’s got nothing to do with how much you weigh.”
Ellen — who’s married to the beautiful Portia de Rossi — doesn’t worry about counting calories and working out like a maniac, but rather focuses her time on being in a happy and healthy relationship.
DeGeneres tells Couric that they’re “fully in love with each other” that she doesn’t feel the need for kids.
“Of course we thought about it, and for a moment there, it was actually a consideration,” she admits. “We really are lucky enough to be so in love with one another that I don’t want a baby because I know what kind of love that must be. I don’t want to share that. I like having all of her, and she likes having all of me. And we have freedom and we have time.”
Plus, she and her wifey get their baby fix when Ellen’s niece visits.
“We play with her and she cries,” she says. “And we just hand her back!”
Take Ellen’s advice ladies! Screw the skinny latte at Starbucks tomorrow and replace it with a Stella!
“It’s hard to listen to him tell people things and me not to go, ‘You poor thing!’”
And with her free spirit and his rigid attitude, we weren’t shocked when reports surfaced last week about Simon already clashing with the daytime host, who makes her Idol debut Feb. 9.
At her first taping, Simon had just confirmed that this would be his last season of the show, and then proceeded to show up over an hour late. Ellen insisted they began work without him.
“When Simon showed up, he was pissy that they started without him,” a source admits.
But Simon apologized, and Ellen “accepted it right away and was fine,” adds the insider.
And although we imagine it’s not her favorite thing to do, Ellen says she’s “getting good at delivering bad news” to Idol wannabes.
“I’m trying to do it in a tender way,” she tells ET. “I hate hurting people’s feelings, so that, I think, is the hardest part.”
Additionally, Ellen says that there are “good people” this season, from which she’s had to “fight very, very hard to keep the people that I believe in.”
She continues, “We have a wide variety [of talent] … somebody for everybody, I hope.”
Hmmm, from the varied talent pool to Ellen vs. Simon, we can imagine this is a season definitely worth getting into!
Paula Abdul recently mocked Idol’s new host Ellen Degeneres, but Ellen doesn’t even mind!
Paula impersonated her replacement while hosting the VH1 Divas Live concert, Thursday night, sporting a blonde wig and Ellen’s infamous attire, a suit and sneakers. Ellen Twittered that she loved it, reports Usmagazine.com!
“You’re hilarious,” She Tweeted Friday.
However, amid her impression, Paula stated, “All kidding aside, [I have] nothing but love for Ellen, and I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig.”
In response to Paula’s gratitude towards her, Ellen tweeted “You’ve left me some big shoes to fill…unfortunately I don’t wear high heels. Nothing but love for you too.”
We love Ellen, but can’t quite wrap our heads around the idea that she’s judging a singing competition? Regardless, we’re excited about the new season!
Just one day after Fox announced that Ellen DeGeneres will join the American Idol crew, former judge Paula Abdul wishes the newcomer good luck on the upcoming season!
“I think Ellen will b a gr8 judge on Idol,” she Tweeted Thursday. “She is wildly funny, talented and I wish her the best of luck!”
Honestly Paula, how much energy would it have taken out of you to spell out BE and GREAT?
Well, we’re glad Paula isn’t bitter about the situation! Just like Simon and Randy have already expressed, no one will ever be able to replace her!
Funny man Jimmy Fallon seems to agree with them as well!
“Ellen seems confident about replacing Paula but, I don’t know, she’s got some pretty big prescriptions to fill,” he posted on Twitter Thursday.
It looks like we’ll soon be getting a double dose of our favorite funny girl Ellen DeGeneres!
The talk-show host is taking Paula Abdul’s seat as the fourth judge on American Idol, Fox said in a statement Wednesday.
“I’m thrilled to be the new judge on American Idol,” DeGeneres said. “I’ve watched since the beginning, and I’ve always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I’ll save from not having to text in my vote.”
Looks like Ellen will soon be working doubles…just like us common folk!
“I’m going to have a day job and a night job,” she said. “The times we’re living in … we’re all doing that.”
The peeps over at Idol couldn’t be more stoked for Ellen’s arrival!
The show’s creator and executive producer Simon Fuller said: “I could not be more excited to have Ellen join the American Idol family. Ellen has been a fan of the show for many years, and her love of music and understanding of the American public will bring a unique human touch to our judging panel. I can’t wait for this next season to begin.”
Having Ellen on the show will certainly be a trip! The new kids will never know when to take Ms. LOL Queen seriously! We hope you’re ready for Ellen’s LOLs and crazy dance moves, Fox!
Move over Michelle Obama, Ellen DeGeneres is the second woman who will pose alongside Oprah for the cover of O magazine.
On today’s Ellen DeGeneres Show, Winfrey made a surprise appearance via satellite and offered DeGeneres cover gig.
DeGeneres has been dreaming about posing on the cover for quite some time now. She called Harpo and asked the receptionist to put her through to Oprah, she sang a song about O, sold the magazine after her show and mocked up numerous covers of herself on O.
DeGeneres told Winfrey she thinks “it’s great” she shared her cover for the first time with Michelle Obama for the April issue. “But I thought it would be really fun if we could be on the cover together, you and I.”
O, who was not fully certain if DeGeneres was being serious, offered her the job.
“I have to tell you when I first heard it about this … I thought it was such a fantastic idea,” Winfrey replies. “I was only sorry that I did not think of it myself. So I am calling to officially invite you on the cover of O.”
“I can’t believe you’re serious. I am freaking out right now,” DeGeneres told her.
Portia de Rossi revealed in a recent interview that her and her big name Hollywood wife Ellen DeGeneres hope to retire on a farm in a small town.
“It’s our dream that we’ll end up in a sweet country town on a farm,” she said in an interview with USA Today. “I love horses and riding and love animals and Ellen loves animals. It would be lovely for us. It’s what we’re going to do when we’re not working anymore.”
Mrs. DeGeneres goes on to say that her career is an important “third” in her life, but not her priority
“I’d rank my career as a good, healthy third of my life,” she added. “It’s important, and without this third, I wouldn’t feel whole. But it’s not important for me to be engaged in it 12 months of the year. I need to find my projects and I need to feel like I’m being challenged and I need to feel creative. But when this is over, I’ll be just as happy to ride my horses and paint.”
I don’t see Ellen retiring anytime soon so Portia better get used to Los Angeles!
Although Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have what seems a perfect marriage, they admit that sometimes they bicker over the little things.
“I do leave half-finished beverages everywhere,” de Rossi says in the March issue of Ladies’ Home Journal. “I usually have three cups of tea going at once. I’m Australian. That’s what we do.”
Portia continues, “I was going to thank her in our vows, for picking up all the glasses — and say that she’d have to do that for the rest of her life. She took that on. But she’s very good about it.”
DeGeneres mirrors de Rossi’s affection saying that she couldn’t be happier. Asked when she felt the most beautiful, she said, “the day I got married”.
“You find the person you love, you think you’ve come this far … and anyway, I never thought I’d have a wedding, and I did, and it meant more than I imagined,” Ellen gushed.
These two are the cutest and we really think they’ll be one of the few Hollywood couples that actually lasts.
Only in Hollywood would you have an awkward run in with an ex-boyfriend on the big screen.
Justin Long and ex, Drew Barrymore, are finding themselves in the middle of this sticky situation while promoting their film, He’s Just Not That Into You, but Long swears it’s not weird.
Yeah right!
“We’re friends, she’s the best,” he says on Monday’s Ellen DeGeneres Show.
But is it awkward being on a press tour with his ex, DeGeneres asks.
“Up until this point it’s been not awkward at all,” Long replies. “No, it’s… because we’re friends, and you know her, she’s effortlessly charming and easy to be around.”
Adds Long, “She has this amazing ability to make anyone feel like at ease.”
We don’t buy the friendly ex act. Long is probably trying to save face since Barrymore clearly wasn’t that into him when they broke up in July 2008.
