This year, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve will be nothing short of rockin’!
Jennifer Lopez will be joining the host to perform a seven-minute medley of her greatest hits, a positive follow-up to her infamous spill on this year’s American Music Awards, and a great way to ring in the new year.
J. Lo is joining rockers Daughtry and previously announced acts The Black Eyed Peas, Justin Beiber, and Robin Thicke for the ball drop broadcast, which will also be airing performance segments from Las Vegas’ City Center, reports Usmagazine.com.
Additionally, newlywed Melissa Rycroft will work as the show’s primary Times Square correspondent, meeting and greeting all the party people in the heart of NYC.
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve is cohosted by Ryan Seacrest and will air Dec. 31 starting at 10 p.m./ET on ABC.
After the dramatic ending to the last season of The Bachelor everyone has been waiting for Jason Mesnick to pop the question to girlfriend, Molly Malaney.
Well people, the wait is over! On Oct. 20, during a trip to New Zealand, Jason dropped a diamond and platinum ring in a glass of champagne, passing it to his fiancee-to-be!
She was completely caught off guard!
“Molly was very surprised; she hadn’t expected it to happen right then, even though we all knew it was a matter of time,” her father Mike tells local paper, The Grand Rapids Press. “She was real excited. It was a short conversation, and they hadn’t made any plans yet. We just found out ourselves at 10:30 [Tuesday night], so this is all breaking very rapidly.”
But don’t worry ladies. Even though the proposal was shocking, Jason did indeed receive parent’s permission before asking for Molly’s hand in marriage.
“Jason called us first,” Mike says. “He sent Molly out to get her nails done, and he wanted to run it by us before he asked her.”
And fortunately, despite Jason’s controversial move in the finale of The Bachelor, Molly’s dad says, “We’ve already determined that he’s a good guy.”
He also said that Molly moved to Seattle, where Mesnick lives with his son, Tyler “about a month ago.”
Congratulations to the happy couple! It looks like everyone who came out of this messy situation found their happy ending! Well, minus Melissa’s Swine Flu of course… but she’ll be ok.
Melissa Rycroft has revealed that she has been infected with the swine flu!
“I am indeed recovering from a bout of the H1N1 flu virus,” the former Bachelor star tells Usmagazine.com. “Like most people who become infected, I thought I had a mild case of the common flu, but when my symptoms exacerbated, I immediately went to the hospital where I was diagnosed with H1N1 and given the proper medications to cure the infection.”
Lucky for her, her soon-to-be mother-in-law is a nurse and advised her with some very helpful information… get regular checkups and get better.
Now Melissa is passing along her words of wisdom, saying “I want to stress to people how easy it is to battle this flu when you take the proper steps such as seeking the care of a doctor.”
“I’m a clear case that by paying diligent attention to your health, it’s easy to overcome this illness and be healthy again.”
First a broken heart and then the swine flu?! This girls body just can’t catch a break! Get well soon Melissa, and let’s hope 2010 is a much more healthy and positive year for you.
Despite the constant rumors of cheating, Melissa Rycroft says Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski are doing fine!
“She is doing really well,” Rycroft told Usmagazine.com Wednesday. “Her and Ed are happy, and I know she is going to become a U.S. citizen. She’s moving to Chicago [where Swiderski lives].”
Unfortunately, US Weekly also recently reported seeing Ed leave a Chicago bar with another woman on August 19.
“You know, granted it’s not my business to comment, but Jillian’s real life is fantastic,” Rycroft continued.
Additionally, Rycroft added that she hopes Harris and Swiderski will still wed.
“I absolutely do,” she says. “I know they love each other, and I know they are planning a wedding, and I know she wants to marry him. I hope it works out for them.”
As for her own wedding to Dallas insurance agent Tye Strickland, Rycroft told Us, “We had to register online!”
Added Strickland, “I think it’s the coolest concept ever, of course! I have never registered for a wedding before. I can just go online and pick out all the stuff and people are going to buy it for me! We should get married more often!”
Well, we’re glad Melissa is finally happy and glad to see at least one of these Bachelor couples will have a happy ending! Now, if only Melissa would talk some sense into her buddy Jillian about real love…
Monday night was the notorious The Men Tell All episode of The Bachelorette. This week though, former BachelorJason Mesnick declared his love for Molly Malaney announcing that they plan on getting married.
“I’m really in love with Molly. She’s completely different from anybody else I’ve ever dated,” he stated, even though the two have only been together for about six months.
Molly added, “I would marry Jason tomorrow. I’m so crazy about him. I know I want to spend the rest of my life with him.”
However, before any of this marriage business becomes official, Molly has to move to Seattle for Jason.
The devastating Bachelor finale last spring where Mesnick essentially dumped Melissa Rycroft for Molly on live television, was considered, “the most controversial moment in this show’s history” by host Chris Harrison. He recently asked Molly and Jason whether or not all the heartache was worth it?
“What we have gone through … just absolutely ripped to shreds…” Molly responded. “It was definitely tough on me.”
Jason chimed in by saying “it was a bigger backlash than I thought.” But he admitted that he’d endure even more scrutiny if that was what it took to be with Molly.
Aw how cute yet, so sick and obnoxious.
Molly concluded by saying, “Based on what we’ve gone through I can’t see anything could ever break us.”

Oh and this just in Jason… your former girlfriend, Melissa, who went to the finals on Dancing With the Stars is now in love and engaged. Revenge is so sweet, right Melissa?
It looks like Bachelor dumpee Melissa Rycroft just may get her happily ever after.
The reality-TV show contestant’s boyfriend, Tye Strickland, proposed to her at Cretia’s restaurant in Dallas on Friday night among 20 of their friends and family. This comes just four months after Rycroft was brutally dumped on national television.
“When they walked in, everybody stood up and clapped,” the staffer told Usmagazine.com adding that Rycroft looked “beaming happy.”
The happy couple toasted with champagne and closed the restaurant down at 2 a.m.
Rycroft and her insurance agent fiance began dating in March after Bachelor’sJason Mesnick proposed to her and then distastefully dumped her on television.
“We’ve been really good friends, but the timing was never right,” she told Us. “With all this going on, he’s my support system. It’s funny how things happen.”
We couldn’t be happier for the Dancing With The Stars beauty, because if anyone deserves a happy ending it’s her! And we’re guessing Jason is still busy being a total DOUCHE!
Former BacheloretteMelissa Rycroft is not too confident that she’ll win Dancing With the Stars.
“We wanted to get out here and have fun, and backstage we were just relaxed and having fun,” Rycroft said according to . “When you come out there everyone’s yelling your name, it’s just a great feeling.”
The former cheerleader say’s she’s not competitive so she had to train herself to want to win the competition.
“I thought about it and who’s left, and then I thought, Shawn went to the Olympics because she wanted to win, Gilles goes into an audition wanting the role. So, I decided to think, ‘I wanted to win this!’”
Even if Rycroft doesn’t win DWTS - she still gets a prize for making it to the finals.
“Tye said he’d get me a dog if I made it to the finals, and I’ve been telling everyone I’m getting one so he has to!”
It sounds like no matter what the outcome is of the show - it’ll be a win-win for Rycroft!
After being dumped on National TV, bachelor contestant turned Dancing with the Stars favorite Melissa Rycroft has found the best form of recovery.
In the latest issue of People magazine, Rycroft discussed her path to recovery, post-breakup.
“I go through stages,” she says. “I will shut down and lock myself in my room. And then I’ll get to the point where I can’t be by myself and I have to be around other people all the time. Otherwise I’ll drive myself nuts crying. I cry it out. Then one day I wake up and go, I’m okay.”
Now, with her success on DWTS, Melissa is constantly surrounded by fans, and has no time for tears. And while she claims “I am so not a celebrity” it seems she has become just that.
We’re glad Melissa bounced back from her national break-up. Nothing mends a broken heart like DWTS success.
Melissa Rycroft, who was dumped by Jason Mesnick on The Bachelor: After the Final Rose, pulled off an amazing performance on Monday’s premiere of Dancing with the Stars with only two days of practice and the best part is that all the judges made fun of loser Mesnick!
Judge Bruno Tonioli called Rycroft “a revelation” after her performance and Mesnick a “loser”!
“I don’t know the Bachelor guy, but he’s a loser,” he said and the crowd booed at this and any Mesnick references.
Rycroft called the whole experience surreal after her performance
“Unbelievable, surreal — all those emotions,” she told Usmagazine.com after the show. “I never expected, after what just happened, that I would be standing here right now. I got the call on Friday around lunchtime and was on a plane literally seven hours later, and now we are here!”
Good for Melissa! We knew she’d end up on top and we’re rooting for her to win DWTS. As for Jason, that d-bag is getting what he deserves!
Melissa Rycroft is picking up the pieces nicely by joining Dancing with the Stars after d-bag Jason Mesnick publicly dumped her on The Bachelor: After the Final Rose.
Rycroft will fill the slot vacated by Access Hollywood’sNancy O’Dell who had to withdraw from the competition due to a knee injury, according to People.com.
Even though Rycroft only had days to rehearse, she is expected to perform live on DWTS’s Monday premiere.
