Gabrielle Union responded to "blog rumors" that started here on Chelsea Lately last night about "outing" Beyonce's real age. Union told us in a recent interview that she's been friends with Beyonce since "they were teenagers". On the show she clarified what she meant and said she's been friends with Beyonce since "she was a teenager" and she was in her twenties. Gabrielle also said the blogs said, "I outed Beyonce for being 35 -- like that's terrible!" That's not the point. It's not "terrible" to be 35, the point is that B's lying! We still think this is fishy. If you befriend someone when you're in your twenties, you don't say that you've known that person since "we were teenagers"!

Uh, I Think We May Have Proven That Beyonce’s Lying About Her Age!

beyoncegabrielleunion.jpg Last week we posted an exclusive interview with Gabrielle Union where she talked about her long term friendship with Beyonce Knowles and we may have unwittingly revealed that B is lying about her age! In the interview Union said, "Beyonce and I have been friends since we were teenagers. We go to the same hairstylist now and you know how those bonds are! B is such a polite, nurturing person and a joy to work with. It’s easy to work with her because she is a good friend of mine." Well, it turns out that Union is 36 and just today on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Beyonce claimed that she's 27. WTF! That means that it would have been virtually impossible for them to be friends when they were both "teenagers". Sources from B's camp tell SandraRose.com that she's really 35! There's definitely something real shady about this!

Exclusive: Gabrielle Union Talks Charities, Her New Movie & Drama On The Ugly Betty Set

November 19th, 2008
gabrielleunionjulie.jpg Gabrielle Union made an appearance at a Chicago McDonald's this morning to promote World Children's Day. The chatty Cathy actress was nice enough to sit down with The Boots Girls at our fave fast food restaurant and talked about her new movie Cadillac Records, where she co-stars with Beyonce, her obsession with America Ferrara and why the Ugly Betty star is too smart to feud with Lindsay Lohan and she even gave us her two cents on former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer's affair with a stripper! BG: Tell us about the charity and how you got involved in World Children's Day? GU: World Children's Day started on Nov. 20 1989 and it contributes to better the lives of less fortunate children around the world. A lot of my friends like Ne-Yo, Hayden Panettiere, and Mario Lopez were participating in the charity and they asked if I wanted to join. Of course I said yes. I love to do things that give back to the less fortunate, especially kids and seeing sick children is even worse. When I see these sick children alone, it is really sad and being able to contribute time and money to the Ronald McDonald House helps to bring the families to these sick children. Today we are selling $1 helping hands and 100% of the proceeds go to the charity and then there are certain things on the menu that portions of the cost go to the charity as well. BG: Let's switch gears and chat about your new movie that you have coming out on Dec. 5, Cadillac Records. GU: I play Geneva Wade who is the girlfriend and then wife of Muddy Waters. It was a tough role to play because it is a role where I wouldn't usually see myself in. I had to explore the role of being the woman who stays in an awful relationship. The toughest scene I had to film was when Waters gets another woman pregnant and the baby's mother drops off the baby to me (Geneva) and tells me that it is mine to take care of. That was really hard. This role made me take a step back and put myself in the shoes of a woman who stays with a cheating spouse. I have always been quick to judge those women and say to myself why can't they just leave, but this role made me realize that every situation is different. We were filming in New Jersey at the time all of the Eliot Spitzer news was happening. I would watch over and over his wife and realize that she had a reason for staying with her husband, and no one could judge her. I realized she was the face of that woman who stays. BG: One of your co-stars is Beyonce. How was it working with her? GU: Beyonce and I have been friends since we were teenagers. We go to the same hairstylist now and you know how those bonds are! B is such a polite, nurturing person and a joy to work with. It's easy to work with her because she is a good friend of mine. It's funny because she says how she is so different from Sasha Fierce, her stage ego and it's true. She isn't a diva at all but when she steps on stage I sometimes have to ask myself who that person is up there, but as soon as she steps foot off stage she is back to the same nice person I have always known. B told me that every role she takes, she is progressively getting better and better and it shows with her role as Etta James. Whether she wins an award for her performance...she really nailed the role and that is something that you have to do when portraying a person who really existed in history and not just a character. BG: You recently taped a few episodes of Ugly Betty, how did that go? GU: I signed on to do the episodes before the writers strike and then the strike happened. When I finally got to shoot my episodes the original people that brought me on, were all gone and I had to start over, working with new writers. It was hard because when I went back to working on Ugly Betty I had already signed on to do Cadillac Records so literally every five days I would have to fly back and forth between coasts. BG: How was working with America Ferrera? GU: Oh my god, I'm obsessed with America. America and I are neighbors so I have known her through that, but she is really nice to work with and she is incredibly smart. I actually am so obsessed with her, on the flight here we watched The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 and I cried my eyes out. You should go buy it, it's great! BG: America seems great to work with but there were rumors swirling about a feud between her and co-star Lindsay Lohan. Is there any truth to that? GU: It's so funny how people focus, well not even focus, just create negative attention about celebrities. People who start feuds or are nasty to other actors in their trailers or on set are just not smart enough to focus their attention elsewhere. America is too smart to get involved in a feud like that. The way TV works is that an actor will sign on for a certain number of episodes, but if they (the writers) can't do anything else with the character they aren't going to need you for the maximum amount of episodes. That's what happen with Lindsay's character. There were no fights, she didn't get fired, there was just no where else to go with her character. BG: You seem to have a lot going on in your life right now, what's next up for you? GU: I am an ambassador for the Susan G. Komen fight against breast cancer so I am really focused on that right now. My best friend was diagnosed with stage four cancer, so we are just really working to keep her alive right now, it's a pretty hard time. I have been to Africa to promote breast cancer awareness and I am just very focused on that and this (Ronald McDonald House) charity right now. mcdonalds.jpg Union chatted and took photos with customers who bought $1 hands, which 100% of the proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House charities. The McDonald's Union made an appearance at was the first in the city to serve the restaurant's line of lattes named McCafes. Gabrielle was a pleasure to talk to, keep fighting the good fight girl!
