Patrick Swayze talked about working with pancreatic cancer in his first interview since his return to acting after he was diagnosed with the cancer in January.

Swayze told the New York Times that he has only missed a day and a half of work since he has been filming his new A&E TV series The Beast in Chicago.

“I’m still fine to work,” he told the paper. “I haven’t changed — oh, I have changed, what am I saying? It’s a battle zone I go through. Chemo, no matter how you cut it, is hell on wheels.”

Despite his cancer and chemotherapy, it seems as though he is on his road to recovery. He has already put 20 pounds back on because of “muscle-building shakes” he told the NY Times.

“There is probably that little bird that flies through your insides and says, ‘I sure would like to make a mark in life,’” he said. “I’ve made a pretty decent mark so far — nothing to scoff at. But it does make you think: Wait a minute. There’s more I want to do. Lots more. Get on with it.”

He also told the publication that he is already thinking about doing a second series of The Beast. That’s what we like to hear from Patrick as it looks like this dirty dancer isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!
