Patrick Swayze brought out his beast on yesterday for the first day of filming his new cable TV series in various locations in downtown Chicago.

If it weren’t for media reports, spectators who observed Swayze working on the set of The Beast never would have guessed the actor is currently battling pancreatic cancer.

“I can’t believe how good he looked,” one eyewitness said. “By reading the tabloids I thought he was supposed to look thin and unhealthy, but he looks great!”

It didn’t appear that anything was going to slow Swayze down on his first day of filming. He began his day at the crack of dawn and filmed scenes till around sunset. Swayze filmed inside Federal Plaza, at a nearby “L” stop and on a train. He took a break in the early afternoon for lunch and told people he had steak.

Towards the end of the day Swayze filmed in a black Cadillac sedan on Federal Street outside the Union League Club. Swayze is scheduled to film more scenes in Chicago the rest of the week including one in a strip club, according to sources.
