Joaquin Phoenix is still a whack job!

A “homeless looking derelict” Phoenix was spotted talking to himself and rummaging through racks of clothes at Red Balls on Melrose, according to Mike Walker’s latest National Enquirer column. He grabbed a black velvet cape, black trousers and mesh top before zipping into a dressing room and began rapping.

When the super hero Phoenix emerged in his new outfit and cape the clerk asked him how he was going to pay.

Phoenix reportedly banged down a wad of cash and yelled: “MONEY!”

“He mumbled madly while the girl counted out his change and offered him a bag for his own clothes,” according to an eyewitness. “Joaquin never said a word, rushed out of the store wearing his velvet cape - and dumped his old clothes in the nearest trash can!”

Wow! And we’re guessing he jetted to the nearest phone booth next with his newfound super powers! I wonder if life is easier when you’re that crazy?!

Gwyneth Paltrow thinks pal Joaquin Phoenix needs to get some street cred before pursuing his new rapping career.

“I think that there might be some other explanation or something going on. I’m not quite sure what, but I can’t believe that he’s really going to quit [acting] forever to become a rapper,” she told MTV UK during a promotional junket for Two Lovers. “It seems odd.”

When asked what advice she has for her costar, who also appears in the film, she replied, “Hmm … maybe to go live in the projects for a few years to get some authenticity, maybe.”

We’re sure Joaquin appreciates the advice Gwyn, but we doubt it’s necessary since this whole hip-hop gig is probably a huge hoax!

Joaquin Phoenix’s hot mess express tour continued Wednesday night as he made a sad attempt to perform at Miami’s LIV nightclub.

The performance was cut short when Phoenix jumped off the stage and attacked a clubgoer who heckled him, according to the AP. Security guards restrained Phoenix before escorting him out.

Phoenix showed up four hours late to his gig and rapped incomprehensibly. Phoenix swore at the heckler and bragged about how much money he had in his bank account. People are still speculating that is erratic behavior is all an Andy Kaufman-style hoax.

If it is - no one’s laughing!

A spokesperson for Joaquin Phoenix is slamming a Chicago-based psychiatrist for suggesting that the former actor and wannabe raper is mentally ill.

Paul Dobransky, author of The Secret Psychology of How We Fall in Love, concluded that Phoenix may be schizophrenic due to his “socially inappropriate behavior” with his a new rap career and his bizarre Late Show appearance in an article in article in the L.A. Times.

Phoenix’s rep fiercely shot back to MTV News: “How absolutely inappropriate for a doctor who has no personal interaction or relationship with someone to diagnose them.”

“And to do so in a public forum,” the rep added. “Hope they spelled his name right. Another 15-minute ‘expert’ is born!”

The doctor actually came to Phoenix’s defense in the article and knocked Ben Stiller for mocking Phoenix at the Oscar’s.

He said he was “pretty offended” by Stiller, because it seemed as if Stiller was “potentially beating down on the mentally ill.”

It’s a little presumptuous to say Stiller was beating down the mentally ill when we don’t even know if that’s the case. I think most people would agree that Phoenix acted like he was high on drugs.

Whatever the case, Dobransky thinks the situation is no laughing matter.

“The jury is not exactly in on what is happening,” Dobransky said. “Whatever it is, it’s not funny — whether it’s drug abuse, mental illness coming on or the clumsiest attempt ever at a career change.”

It sure as hell is hard not to laugh at that clip of Phoenix on Letterman, but it is pretty sad!

“He’s been known to lock himself in a room for days smoking pot,” a source tells us. “He can be very reclusive.”

As much as we love an Andy Kaufman prankster, we unfortunately think there is something darker going on with Phoenix.

After high as a kite Joaquin Phoenix made a total ass of himself yesterday afternoon at the taping of The Late Show With David Letterman, he continued to fall to rock bottom by attending the evening premiere for his new flick with a very uncomfortable looking Gwyneth Paltrow!

Phoenix continued his magical mystery tour by walking the red carpet with Paltrow at the New York City premiere of Two Lovers at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema.

I think Gwynie’s WTF look on her face says it all! I hope Phoenix did TV interviews on the red carpet there - there’s nothing better than more train wreck TV.

I also hope Joaquin has a big bottle of Xanax waiting for him when he wakes up tomorrow morning or night or days from now and sees how he acted last night. He sure as hell is going to need it. Yikes!

Holy sh*t this is insane!

Joaquin Phoenix went on The Late Show with David Letterman out of his mind on who knows what last night!

The Snort Walk the Line star is twitching, fidgeting and can barely even talk! I give David Letterman some major props, because he played off the train wreck appearance very well.

One of Letterman’s best lines to Phoenix was: “And here’s my hope that after some time off…and I think you’re taking some time off tonight, I’m hoping you’ll reconsider and come back to acting!”

At the end of the one-sided interview, Letterman signed off with: “And Joaquin I’m sorry you couldn’t be here tonight - we owe an apology to Farrah Fawcett!”

The first time you watch this video it’s hilarious and shocking. The second time, it’s sad! This dude needs help! This should be an anti-drug commercial. Say no to drugs kids!
