Ronnie Renner Breaks Motorcross World Record In Chicago!
July 27th, 2009
Professional motocross athlete Ronnie Renner broke his very own and the world record on Saturday evening for highest jump off a quarterpipe in Chicago's Butler Field at Grant Park. A little after 6 p.m. on Saturday as the rain clouds began to roll in, Renner soared to his new record of 63 feet and 5 inches high. “It’s been crazy. I’m so pumped to have done it,” said Renner after breaking the record. “What a killer vibe! All these people coming out to see me and they were psyched. I could hear the crowd cheering.” Renner set his initial world record in 2008 on the Santa Monica Pier by jumping 59’2” above the ground. After that jump, he knew he could soar higher. “Between myself and Red Bull, we’re bound to come up with something crazy,” he said back then. And Ronnie once again is itching to break his own record and Twittered about it. "Thanks for the congrats everyone... Stoked to pull it off, but already ready to go higher,"he Twittered. "The crowd had me fired up to go bigger, but....."The Boots Girls were there and he was absolutely amazing! We're looking forward for you next jump, Ronnie!
Lollapalooza loses one of their biggest acts! Beastie Boy Adam Yauch has cancer, a label representative announced in a statement on Monday. "Adam "MCA" Yauch of Beastie Boys was diagnosed last week as having a cancerous tumor in his left parotid (salivary) gland," the statement began. "Luckily it was caught early and is localized in one area, and as such is considered very treatable. It will however require surgery and several weeks of additional treatment." The Beastie Boys were scheduled to headline Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday, August 8 but due to Yauch's recent diagnosis, the boys will be taking a break from the road. "Fortunately the cancer is not in a location that will affect Yauch's vocal chords. Beastie Boys have canceled all upcoming concert appearances to allow time for Yauch's surgery and recovery," the statement concluded. "The release of the band's forthcoming album Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 will also be pushed back." Yauch seems more disappointed with fact that the boys must cancel shows and push back the album, rather than the idea that he has cancer! Paraphrasing from a video statement on www.Beastieboys.com, Yauch said, "I just need to take a little time to get this in check, and then we'll release the record and play some shows. It's a pain in the neck (sorry had to say it) because I was really looking forward to playing these shows, but the doctors have made it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be put aside to deal with later." Although we're disappointed we won't be seeing the boys in Chicago next month, The Boots Girls wish Adam the best!
Sorry Kiptyn, your days are numbered! Former bachelorette DeAnna Pappas predicts that Chicago native, Ed, is gonna be the lucky guy to win Jillian Harris' heart. "I think she's going to choose Ed," DeAnna told Extra. On Monday's episode, filmed in Hawaii, Ed couldn't stay away from Jillian, begged for her trust, and even declared his love for her! DeAnna feels like even from the start, Jillian "only had eyes for Ed." Additionally, she thinks that Jillian probably regrets keeping loser Wes till the near end. "I'm sure Jillian is sitting at home [watching the show] going [hits head], 'Why did I let him get past night one?'" Ed's cute, but Boots Girl sources tell us there is something about him that's gonna kill the relationship, should he win. Plus... we can't overlook the fact that the guy couldn't get it up in the last episode. If that's not a sign of trouble ahead, then we don't know what is!
Jon Gosselin's new girlfriend Hailey Glassman has a criminal record. Cops arrested Glassman outside an Indiana University dorm in 2005 for possession of marijuana, according to Usmagazine.com. Glassman and five friends were hanging out in a parking lot at 3:18 a.m. on Oct. 2, 2005, Jerry Minger, the communications officer at the IU Police Department told Us. A cop spotted the group "passing a pipe back and forth, which is consistent with marijuana." The case was settled outside of court. Glassmen paid fines and court costs and was put on probation. Glassmen and Gosselin were spotted frolicking in the beaches of St. Tropez while Kate Gosselin stayed home and watched their eight children. At least Jon's consistent, he likes trashy women!
On Friday, Miss Molly Ringwald gave birth to twins! The Secret Life of the American Teenager star had a baby boy and girl with husband Panio Gianopoulos confirms ABC Family. The parents named their beautiful babies Roman Stylianos and Adele Georgiana. In addition to her newborns, Ringwald has another daughter, Mathilda Ereni who's five. But the star isn't worried about the age difference! "I actually think it's a good thing considering we're having twins," Ringwald told Fit Pregnancy in June. "It would be so much harder with a toddler than with an almost 6-year-old," she said. "It's exciting, especially since it's a boy and girl ... It’s the best of both worlds." Her show is still in productions, but has been very accommodating with her pregnancy. Her role was reduced for her maternity leave and her real-life pregnancy was written into the show, with several scenes filmed pre-baby belly. Congrats Molly!
Emma Watson pulled a Britney, Lindsay, or Paris on Tuesday when she flashed her underwear at the premiere of her new movie! It happens to all celebrities! For Watson, accidentally, but for the other above mentioned we think otherwise! The star inadvertently flashed her underwear at Tuesday's London Harry Potter premiere while adjusting her floor length vintage Ozzie Clark dress in the pouring rain, according to Usmagazine.com. The young actress laughed off the embarrassing incident on last night's Late Show With David Letterman. "This was a small wardrobe malfunction that happens," Watson told Letterman while holding her head in her hands. "I actually don't remember it happening." Hmm, was she wasted at the premiere too?! That would definitely be a true Lilo move! "At least I'm wearing underwear!" she joked. True that!
What's a holiday weekend without a classic celebrity DUI arrest?! Three's Company star Joyce DeWitt was arrested on Saturday after in El Segundo, Calif., for suspicion of DUI. Click HERE to see her mugshot - it's hilarious! It looks like her eyes are about to pop out of her head which makes us think she was doing more than just drinking to celebrate Independence Day!
Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has fallen victim of the swine-flu! The 20-year-old actor who plays kid wizard Ron Weasley is quickly recovering from the illness and is expected to attend the London premiere of new Potter installment, Half-Blood Prince on Tuesday, his publicist confirmed. Grint took a few days off from shooting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in London, which is expected to hit the big screen in 2010. "He has now recovered and is looking forward to joining his fellow cast members at the junket and premieres this week and will then return to filming directly afterwards," his publicist said in a statement Saturday, adding that filming was able to continue as scheduled in Grint's absence. Rupert's fellow cast-members better have their face masks ready!
On Sunday night, Oxiclean pitchman, Billy Mays was found dead by his wife in their Tampa home. Florida medical examiners believe he most likely died of a heart attack, seeing as how the spokesman suffered from hypertensive heart diesease. Additionally, the day before his death, Mays bumped his head during a rough landing on a commercial plane, but no head trauma was found. To make the diagnosis more difficult, Mays was taking prescription painkillers Tramadol and hydrocodone for hip pain, but there was no signs indicating drug abuse. "Everyone [who knew] him was aware of his larger-than-life personality, generosity and warmth," the Discovery Channel, which aired his series, Pitchmen, told Usmagazine.com in a statement. "Billy was a pioneer in his field … He will be greatly missed as a loyal and compassionate friend. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family at this time of incredible loss." What a devastating week in show biz. All of our lost entertainers will be greatly missed.
In March, Dancing with the Stars judge Len Goodman was diagnosed with cancer, but chose to keep the news a secret until he finished filming the show. Fortunately, three weeks ago, Goodman had surgery to remove the cancerous tumor in his prostate gland, U.K.'s reports. "I have had the surgery now," Goodman admitted after keeping it from his colleagues. "Everything is gorgeously good. I will be back in September for sure." Additionally, Goodman credited his quick recovery to doctors catching the disease early at his annual check-up. The operation, done in London, was kept secret from everyone except close family and friends because he felt it was "not necessary to blabber it out to everyone." He also said that he feared the producers of his other show, BBC's Strictly Come Dancing might not want a "cancer-riddled, bed-ridden old so-and-so" working for the network. "I could have said 'sorry' and not done the show, but the doctors felt I wasn't riddled with it and it wasn't so far advanced that it was a life-or-death scenario," he said. "It takes a few weeks to get everything set up for the operation anyway, so I went ahead and did the show. I had the surgery done as soon as I got back from America." And the great news is that he's feeling better already! "I feel good," he said. "I was obviously worried at the start. We all worry if we get something like this. You do feel a bit vulnerable, but as long as you come out the other side all right, why worry? You're a bit sore for a while and you can't play golf, which is the biggest blow at the moment. But I will be able to in a month's time or so, I can't wait." We're so glad to hear he's doing well! The Boots Girls can't imagine watching DWTS without the unforgiving and brutal remarks from Len Goodman!
