After the dramatic ending to the last season of The Bachelor everyone has been waiting for Jason Mesnick to pop the question to girlfriend, Molly Malaney.

Well people, the wait is over! On Oct. 20, during a trip to New Zealand, Jason dropped a diamond and platinum ring in a glass of champagne, passing it to his fiancee-to-be!

She was completely caught off guard!

“Molly was very surprised; she hadn’t expected it to happen right then, even though we all knew it was a matter of time,” her father Mike tells local paper, The Grand Rapids Press. “She was real excited. It was a short conversation, and they hadn’t made any plans yet. We just found out ourselves at 10:30 [Tuesday night], so this is all breaking very rapidly.”

But don’t worry ladies. Even though the proposal was shocking, Jason did indeed receive parent’s permission before asking for Molly’s hand in marriage.

“Jason called us first,” Mike says. “He sent Molly out to get her nails done, and he wanted to run it by us before he asked her.”

And fortunately, despite Jason’s controversial move in the finale of The Bachelor, Molly’s dad says, “We’ve already determined that he’s a good guy.”

He also said that Molly moved to Seattle, where Mesnick lives with his son, Tyler “about a month ago.”

Congratulations to the happy couple! It looks like everyone who came out of this messy situation found their happy ending! Well, minus Melissa’s Swine Flu of course… but she’ll be ok.
