Former Soprano’s star Drea de Matteo is joining the cast of Desperate Housewives.

Matteo will be a series regular and will play the matriarch of an
Italian family who just moved to the neighborhood, according to Usmagazine.com.

It is rumored that she is likely coming on board to help the show with ratings after the departure of Nicolette Sheridan last season.

The casting is still underway for her landscape designer husband and their tightly wound son!
