Recent reports have claimed that Brad Pitt will be joining the cast of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes.

However, the studio is saying this isn’t true!

London’s Daily Mirror claimed that Pitt was expected to arrive in London this week to begin filming scenes all over the city as Holmes’ nemesis, Moriarty.

However, a studio rep is telling Us Weekly “The report in today’s London Mirror is completely inaccurate. Brad Pitt is not joining the cast of Sherlock Holmes and we’re extremely pleased with the production of the film. As planned, it will be released on Christmas Day, 2009.”

They continued, “In order to complete the movie, we’ve scheduled a few days on set to shoot a couple of additional scenes, obtain pick-up shots, and perfect some of the visual effects elements, all of which is standard filmmaking practice.”

Rumors claimed that Ritchie decided to add Pitt to the cast, alongside Robert Downey Jr as Holmes and Jude Law as Dr. Watson, after seeing the first edit, but apparently this isn’t the case!

Honestly… we don’t know what to believe! Someone needs to do a little detective work to get to the bottom of this debacle.

Guys will be guys and that phrase rings especially true to for newly single Guy Ritchie.

Ritchie’s famous brotherhood banded together last night in support of their newly single director buddy.

Infamous bachelor Jude Law and hunky Robert Downey Jr. were spotted with Ritchie in London’s Tony Mayfair district for a private viewing of an art exhibit.

“Guy was in great form, hanging out with friends having a good time,” one gallery guest tells People.com.

The source adds, “He seemed quite merry and had his arms around lots of people and smiling.”

Let’s hope a night out with the boys will keep Guy’s mind off of the rumors circling around soon-to-be ex-wife Madonna and her alleged boyfriend NY Yankee Alex Rodriguez.

“My whole thing is that that I saw The Dark Knight. I feel like I’m dumb because I feel like I don’t get how many things that are so smart,” Tropic Thunder star Robert Downey Jr. told MovieHole.net. “It’s like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I’m like, ‘That’s not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.’ I loved The Prestige but didn’t understand The Dark Knight. Didn’t get it, still can’t tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I’m like, ‘I get it. This is so high brow and so f*cking smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.’ You know what? F*ck DC Comics. That’s all I have to say and that’s where I’m really coming from.”

Is he serious?

Robert Downey Jr. as Hugh Hefner? Maybe.

Hugh reportedly wants Downey to play himself in the upcoming biopic tentatively named Playboy.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Hugh decided he liked Downey after seeing him in Iron Man and admired his humor and skill in showing his vulnerability.

Nothing is definite yet, but a rep for Downey confirms he is interested in the project. Hefner spent his early years in the Windy City and it’s where he first launched Playboy, so some filming for the movie is expected to take place in Chicago although there’s no word on when shooting will begin.

It’s no secret that Robert Downey Jr. has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction and spent some time in jail for it. Downey opened up to Parade magazine about cleaning up and told them, “Five or six years ago, I saw the writing on the wall. I knew the party was over. It was time for me to come out of the Dark Ages and get real.”

Downey dated Sex and the City actress Sarah Jessica Parker for seven years and said she was “a force of nature”.

“I was so selfish. I liked to drink, and I had a drug problem, and that didn’t jibe with Sarah Jessica, because it is the furthest thing from what she is,” he said of SJP. “She provided me a home and understanding. She tried to help me. She was so miffed when I didn’t get my act together.

“I thought my way was so much cooler than people who were actually building lives and careers. I was in love with Sarah Jessica,” he confessed, “and love clearly was not enough. I was meant to move on. And, after some heartache, she was meant to find her home with a great star. He [Matthew Broderick] is a lot more gifted and grounded than I ever was. They have a great kid.”

Downey has a 14 year-old son, Indio, from his first wife and is now happily married to producer Susan Levin who he said helped immensely with his recovery. “She told me, ‘I’m not doing that [drug] dance with you. I’m drawing a line in the sand here.’ She was absolutely clear about it. That doesn’t mean that other women, business associates, movie directors, insurance companies, judges and law enforcement hadn’t been clear about it too. It was that, before I met Mrs. Downey, I just didn’t give a goddamn. What changed is that I cared.”

Downey’s latest project, Iron Man, is something he’s really proud of. “I’ve done something most people thought I’d never do. I’ve become a leading-man superhero in a big action movie!”
